Fire Notice

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As of Saturday, October 14, forestry service roads in and around our community are closed due to National Forest Service operations in fighting a wild fire on the Southwest side of Mount Amapolis (the freeway side).  This fire is on the West side of I-90, near Mile Post 67, and currently covers 150 acres.  The NFS and local fire fighters are currently working with some water drops and "hand crews", and estimate that the fire is roughly 30% contained.

There is an information number for residents in the area that is manned from 8:00 AM to roughly 9:00 PM.  The number is 509-852-1062.  The National Forestry Service does not expect to have information posted on their web site due to the limited size of this fire.

We hope that this fire can be fully contained soon, but it is important for residents to do all they can to reduce the potential risk to the community.  Please be aware that our local fire fighters will be at risk if the fire gets too close to our homes, and any volatile fuels, such as gasoline, fire arms, ammunition, or other explosives stored in your residence will add to this risk.  Please do your part to keep the community safe.

Regards,

Steve Hegge, Kachess Community President
